KUALA LUMPUR: Twelve-year-old prodigy Izz Imil Shahrom behaves like any other child but is deeply interested in mathematics, says Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

"It turns out that his interest in mathematics is so deep that our conversations revolved around numbers," he said on Sunday (Sept 29).

Dr Zambry said Izz Imil, who is pursuing a degree in Science in Mathematics at Universiti Malaya (UM), is a cheerful and eloquent boy.

Izz Imil's parents and UM vice chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman were also present during the meeting.

UM confirmed that Izz Imil would be an undergraduate student at the Faculty of Science.

He was accepted after he underwent an interview process with a special committee established by the university and was approved by its senate to continue his studies at Universiti Malaya.
