Cops record statements from 3 witnesses in monorail jumping incident


KUALA LUMPUR: The police have recorded statements from three individuals concerning the incident where a man was filmed leaping across the monorail tracks at Bukit Bintang last week.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the witnesses' statements were recorded to assist with the investigation.

"We are still tracking down the suspect involved in the incident.

"We are investigating the case under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass," he told reporters after launching a digital billboard showcasing police crime prevention and anti-crime messages at Sri Hartamas police station on Monday (Sept 30).

ACP Sulizmie urged those with information about the incident to contact the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters at 03-26002222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-21159999, or the nearest police station.

It was reported on Friday (Sept 27) that police were tracking a man who filmed himself leaping across the tracks at the Bukit Bintang monorail station.

A four-second video of the stunt was uploaded to Xiaohongshu, a Chinese social media site, on Tuesday (Sept 24).

The Prasarana Auxiliary Police lodged the report related to the incident at 9.34pm on Wednesday (Sept 25).
