FORMER Hong Kong sex symbol Amy Yip was urged by her friends to find love in Malaysia, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The 58-year-old, who was infamous in the 1980s and 1990s for her partially-nude scenes in Category III films, said she had always complained about being single and decided to try her luck in Malaysia.

“Many of my friends urged me to marry in Malaysia. I feel Hong Kong men are just average.

“But Malaysian men are honest, good men,” she joked during a recent interview in Penang.

Yip, who retired from acting in 1997, was in Penang for the opening of her hotel there.

She said it was an investment with a Malaysian businesswoman and they planned to open four hotels in all.

When asked if she would consider coming out of retirement, Yip said she would if the role was appropriate for her age.

“I don’t mind playing the role of a mother. The most important thing is that I get to showcase my acting.

“However, I will not consider online dramas or stage plays because the stress is too much,” she said.

Yip is best known for her lead roles in Erotic Ghost Story (1990), Sex and Zen (1991) and Robotrix (1991).

Since retiring from acting, Yip has been focusing on running food and beverage businesses in Hong Kong and Macau.

Category III was a part of the Hong Kong motion picture rating system introduced in 1988 and films in this category were deemed unsuited for those aged below 18.

> Social media influencer Joanne Lim dropped a shocking revelation that she has ended her four-year marriage with Malaysian actor Cedric Loo, China Press reported.

The two got hitched in 2022 after dating for nearly a year. She gave birth to a baby girl named Zendaya April the following year.

Both Lim and Loo would often share photos of their happy family on social media. As such, it was a surprise to fans when they learned they had split up.

“Both parties must bear the responsibility of a failed marriage. I no longer care what happened... or who had hurt whom. It is no longer important,” Lim said in a video on Instagram.

Instead, she said she would take the failed marriage as a life lesson and accept what had happened.

“Only by acceptance can we truly gain inner peace and strength,” she said.

Loo is known for movies such as Fight Lah! Kopitiam (2020), Amazing Spring (2019) and Pulau (2023). He once had a short-lived relationship with Taiwanese actress Sharon Hsu.
