‘Prepare for monsoon season’

KOTA BARU: The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, has called on the people of the state to remain vigilant and prepare for the upcoming monsoon season.

His Royal Highness said that with the unpredictable weather, the risk of flooding in certain areas is high.

“I urge all citizens to stay alert and continuously follow updates and weather warnings issued by the authorities,” the Sultan said in his speech at an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with his 55th birthday here yesterday.

Sultan Muhammad V emphasised that early preparations must be made to avoid unwanted incidents.

Meanwhile, the Sultan expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for approving the extension of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport runway in Pengkalan Chepa from 2,400m to 2,800m.

The Sultan remarked that this step is part of the efforts to transform the airport into an international standard facility and to enhance Malaysia’s transportation infrastructure.

“In addition, the transport network can play a crucial role in economic development and the welfare of the people,” he said, Bernama reported.

The expansion and upgrading of LTSIP is a project involving a cost of RM440mil.

His Royal Highness also urged for the East Coast Expressway Phase 3 (LPT3) project to be expedited.

“According to the latest statistics, Kelantan recorded a 2.6% decline in the gross domestic product (GDP) value for the manufacturing sector compared to last year.

“My hope is that the manufacturing sector can be boosted to become the second largest contributor to the state’s GDP. I also urge for the development of new industrial areas,” he said.

Additionally, Sultan Muhammad V expressed hope that the Federal Government would consider extending the tax exemption incentive in Kelantan for another 15 years.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim headed the list of 763 people conferred awards and titles.

Anwar was bestowed the Seri Paduka Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (SPMK), which carries the title “Datuk”.

A total of 100 individuals received their awards from Sultan Muhammad V at the investiture ceremony held at Istana Balai Besar here yesterday, with 35 of them conferred the title “Datuk”.

Among them were Apex Equity Holdings Bhd group executive chairman Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador and Muhibbah Security Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Khidir Yaacob, who received the Seri Paduka Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (SJMK), which carries the title “Datuk”.

Malaysian Armed Forces Health Service director-general Lt-Jen Datuk Zulkeffeli Mat Jusoh received the Seri Paduka Kesateria Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Perkasa (SPKK), which carries the title “Datuk”.

Kelantan state financial officer Tengku Kaya Perkasa Datuk Dr Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Tengku Feissal, Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Yakub @ Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff of Universiti Malaya’s Al-Quran and Al-Hadith Department and Kelantan Land and Mines director Datuk Rosnazli Amin were conferred the Seri Paduka Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (SPSK), which also carries the title “Datuk”.

Three people were conferred the Seri Paduka Jasa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Setia (SPJK), which carries the title “Datuk”. They are Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, Prisons Commissioner General Datuk Seri Nordin Muhamad and former Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun.

Among the recipients of the Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (DPMK), which carries the title “Datuk”, were Malaysia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Datuk Dr Ahmad Faisal Muhamad and Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood @ Johan Mahmood Merican.

Recipients of the Dato’ Paduka Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (DJMK), which also carries the title “Datuk” were Azahar Mohd Shariff, businessman Daniyar Kessikbayev, lawyer Law Yew Foo, Michael Kalum Moggie and businessman Tan Say Yap.

TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd managing director Muhamad Nazri Pazil was bestowed the Dato’ Paduka Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (DPSK), which carries the title “Datuk”.
