SHAH ALAM: Two people, including one believed to be acting as a cash flow operator for Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), had their remand extended for five days by the Magistrate’s Court.
The order was issued by Deputy Registrar Nurshahira Abdul Salim yesterday.
Lawyer Rosli Kamaruddin, who represented the two individuals, a man and a woman in their 50s, said the investigation against his clients was conducted under Section 31(a) of the Children Act 2001 and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2022.
It is understood that the two people, who were first remanded for seven days on Sept 23, were taken to the Shah Alam police district headquarters lockup near here, Bernama reported.
On Friday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that police had arrested an individual believed to be a GISB cash flow operator through Op Global Phase 4, in Butterworth, Penang, on Sept 23.
Meanwhile, the same court also approved the application of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to place 15 children who are the children of a senior GISB leader in the shelters.
The children, nine boys and six girls aged three to 16, will be placed in JKM shelters in Johor and Kuala Lumpur.
In MACHANG, the remand period of a headmaster of an integrated primary school linked to GISB has been extended by three days.
The court order for the extension was issued by Magistrate Amal Razim Alias.
Previously, Bernama reported that the 66-year-old man was remanded for four days beginning Sept 26, following a police raid at Sekolah Rendah Integrasi Ikhwan where 34 prohibited books related to Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad were seized.
The headmaster is being investigated under Section 8(2) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984.
In KOTA BARU, state PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said no Kelantan PAS member was involved with GISB or Al-Arqam.
Mohamed Fadzli, the Deputy Mentri Besar of Kelantan, said PAS and Al-Arqam are two different entities.
He was speaking to reporters after attending the investiture ceremony in conjunction with the 55th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Kelantan Muhammad V.
Mohamed Fadzli said the state government will leave all matters related to GISB to the authorities for investigation and that action should be taken if it is proven that it violated rules from a religious point of view.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad, when met at the ceremony, said there was no need to create a new fatwa related to GISB unless there were other elements found by the authorities.
