Three boys remanded over alleged sexual assault of 12-year-old girl

KOTA KINABALU: Three boys, aged 12 to 14, were detained for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl on a farm in Tawau district.

Tawau OCPD Supt Champin Piuh said the offence was believed to have been committed around 9pm on Thursday (Sept 26).

He said the girl’s mother found out about the alleged incident and lodged a report at 4.56pm on Friday (Sept 27).

“The three boys were picked up at 5.40pm the same day,” he said in a statement.

Supt Champin said two of the suspects had birth certificates, while the other boy and the victim had no documents.

He said that none of them attended school.

A remand order has been obtained, and the boys will be detained until Oct 2.

“This case is being investigated for sexual offences against children and the Immigrations Act,” said Supt Champin.
