MCDONALD’S Malaysia recently reached out to 400 welfare homes through one of its community initiatives, the McDonald’s Community Month Programme, which kicked off on Sept 24.
Established in 2017, the programme is dedicated to celebrating underprivileged children with a special and meaningful birthday experience, creating memorable moments they will cherish.
The programme will be carried out by all McDonald’s Malaysia restaurants, which operate over 370 outlets across the country.
“The McDonald’s Community Month Programme is a core programme within McDonald’s Malaysia’s community initiatives as it reflects our unwavering commitment to Malaysians in need, such as these underprivileged children,” said McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar.
“The support we provide not only touches their hearts by bringing joy but also supports their welfare and well-being through donations we distribute during our visits to the welfare homes.
“As a locally-owned company, we are dedicated to making a positive impact by addressing the welfare and well-being of the community.
“We aim to be a caring neighbour to Malaysians in the areas where we operate, as our restaurants are always closely integrated with local neighbourhoods and communities.”
This initiative, carried out under the banner of “Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s & RMHC”, encompasses the company’s community initiatives for all levels of society.
Every year, McDonald’s Malaysia carries out over 19,000 community activities through its restaurants. As part of the McDonald’s Community Month Programme, a birthday celebration at Rumah Titian Kaseh in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur was held to kickstart the programme, with many more celebrations to follow at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide throughout October.
A total of 90 children from Rumah Titian Kaseh, Rumah Raudhatul Al-Faeez and Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni were cheered up with various fun activities and lively decorations.
“I commend McDonald’s Malaysia’s efforts for these children in need, as they benefit greatly from the emotional support of the community.
“I am deeply grateful for their efforts in taking the time to celebrate with the orphans and brighten their day with beautiful decorations and a lively atmosphere. I’m confident this is an experience they will never forget,” said Rumah Titian Kaseh manager Muhammad Akmal Yosuf.
Echoing similar sentiments, Elza Izyan Erieza Zahalan, the manager of Rumah Raudhatul Al-Faeez in Gombak, expressed her gratitude for the birthday celebrations.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very thankful that our welfare home was among those chosen to be celebrated by McDonald’s Malaysia this year. Honestly, they are the first company to celebrate the birthdays of our children and the event was very joyful,” she said.
“The children were overjoyed to be playing games, receiving wonderful gifts, enjoying a big cake and taking home photos as memories. I hope this excitement will give them a renewed spirit.”
Meanwhile, Nadia Afifah Zahari, a representative from Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni in Taman Keramat, shared her perspective on the significance of the programme.
“This is my first time attending a programme with other orphanages.
“When we were invited this year to celebrate together with other welfare homes, the children from our home were very excited to be meeting new friends and experiencing a new environment,” she said.
“This was a meaningful experience, and I hope other welfare homes will also have the opportunity to enjoy birthday celebrations like these, as it greatly benefits the children in need.”
Apart from the birthday celebrations, McDonald’s Malaysia also donated various essential items and financial aid to the participating welfare homes, to help improve the comfort and well-being of the children under their care.
