Cops: No threat from cults in Perak


IPOH: The public can breathe easy regarding the presence of deviant cults in Perak, as the police are keeping a vigilant watch over the situation, says Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris.

The Perak police chief said that there is no cause for concern as the state remains “aman dan damai (safe and peaceful)”.

“If there are any threats to the nation’s security and peace, we will take necessary action,” Comm Azizi said at a school in Chemor yesterday.

His remarks followed a statement from Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, who confirmed that only a handful of deviant cults are in the state.

Saarani said the authorities are well aware of the cults’ existence but are withholding specific details as they are being closely monitored, including by the Perak State Islamic Religious Department.

When questioned about any further arrests in connection with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings, Comm Azizi said no additional arrests have been made in Perak so far and that any official updates would come from Bukit Aman.
