Croc attack victim's partial remains found in Kunak

KOTA KINABALU: The partial body of a man who went missing after a crocodile attack in Sabah's east coast has been recovered by search and rescue workers.

Plantation worker Ridwan Nawir, 50, was found at about 9.40am on Tuesday (Oct 1), about 600m from where he was reported missing a day earlier at a river near Ladang KLK Jatika in Kunak.

The mauled remains were missing a leg, part of the torso and the victim's head, Kunak fire station chief Mohammad Omarbatha said.

"We suspect he was partially eaten by a crocodile," he added.

Firemen began the second day of surface search operations using boats while with local villagers assisting along the riverbank at 7am.

Mohammad said the victim's body was taken to the village and handed over to police for further investigations.

Ridwan was setting up a fishing net in the river on Monday (Sept 30) morning when a friend saw him being attacked by a crocodile.
