Monorail track jumper still at large, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are still tracking down the man who filmed himself leaping across the tracks at the Bukit Bintang monorail station last week.

A four-second video of the act was uploaded on social media site Xiaohongshu on Sept 24.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said police have so far recorded the statements of three witnesses to assist the investigation.

“We are still looking for the suspect.

“We are investigating the case under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass,” he told reporters after the launch of a digital billboard showcasing police crime prevention and anti-crime messages at the Sri Hartamas police station here yesterday.

ACP Sulizmie urged those with information to contact the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 03-2600 2222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.

A report about the incident was lodged by the Prasarana auxiliary police on Sept 25.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob, who launched the digital billboard, said it would enable up-to-date information on police anti-crime messages and activities to be spread more effectively.

“Such messages could reach the masses as the billboard would be prominent for road users and pedestrians,” he said.
