Constant vigilance!: Perak top cop speaks to UiTM Seri Iskandar students on crime prevention

IPOH: Students at an institute of higher learning were given a “pep talk” by the Perak police chief on crime prevention.

Datuk Comm Azizi Mat Aris advised students at UiTM Seri Iskandar to always be careful of their surroundings, on who they mix with, not to try drugs, and to avoid falling into the trap of scammers.

“I would like to advise all the students that in the context of crime, it can happen anywhere, including getting influenced by those who are close to us.

“Concerning scammers, sometimes we are weak, we trust people easily when manipulated, and we get entangled in their lies.

“As for drugs, do not even try it. Once you do, life becomes imperfect, and is difficult to lead a normal life,” he said during his speech at the “Student Motivation Talk with the Perak police chief” programme at the university on Wednesday (Oct 2).

Comm Azizi said education at institutes of higher learning was intended to produce capable, qualified and competitive graduates to enter the job market.

However, he said, it did not mean that students only need to focus on learning as they also needed to be responsible citizens of the country.

“Use your young blood to express the love for the country, but not get involved in rioting and demonstrations, and so on.

“Students as a young generation, need to appreciate the meaning of independence so that you are grateful and work towards defending the independence that we have gained.

“Be a responsible citizen, and don’t do things that can betray the country like leaking government secrets, avoid racism, and strengthen the relationship with the surrounding community without looking at the religion, race, and skin colour,” he added.
