Owner of car parked illegally at Petaling Street in viral video issued summons

KUALA LUMPUR: The owner of the car that was illegally parked along Jalan Sultan has been issued a summons, say city traffic police.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, responding to a viral video of the incident, said that action had been taken after the car was found to have been blocking traffic there on Sept 29.

"The department will always take enforcement action on any vehicles that have been found going against road laws, especially within the city centre.

"My advice to all is to be more aware and responsible drivers and to not simply park their vehicles anywhere leading to disrupting other road users. Imagine if there had been an emergency and the vehicle blocked was a firetruck or ambulance," he said.

The video, posted on social media site Reddit showed the car blocking a busy road, leading to slowed traffic.

A bus was also seen having difficulty manoeuvring away from the parked car due to the blocked lane.
