RM1.3mil worth of sex toys disposed

SEREMBAN: About 27,000 sex toys were disposed of by the Home Ministry during a public operation here.

The products were estimated to be worth some RM1.3mil.

“They were mostly manufactured in China, costing between RM50 and RM800,” said ministry enforcement and control division secretary Nik Yusaimi Yussof.

Some of the products were believed to have been made in Thailand, he said.

He said the sex toys were seized during operations in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang this year.

The ministry, he said, had obtained approvals from the courts to destroy the products under Section 19 (1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act.

Nik Yusaimi said the ministry’s decision to publicise the disposal of the banned products was to educate the public about offences related to sex toys.
