Student falls to her death in KL school


KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old girl has fallen to her death from a school building here on Tuesday (Oct 1).

The school confirmed that one of its students had died.

"Immediate emergency measures were taken and authorities were notified.

"Despite efforts, medical personnel confirmed the student had passed away.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time," the school said in a statement.

"School counsellors remain fully committed to safeguarding the well-being of students and lessening the psychological impact on other students," it said.

The school also said the incident had garnered attention on social media and urged the public not to spread unverified information.

The school also urged the public to respect the privacy of the family.

"An official investigation is in progress and the school is giving full cooperation," it said.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said they were informed of the incident at the school on Jalan Syed Putra here at 6.59pm on Tuesday.

He said that the victim's body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

"There were no signs of foul play and we have classified the incident as sudden death," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 2).

ACP Ku Mashariman advised the public not to speculate on the matter and to stop spreading information on the incident on social media.
