SHAH ALAM: Nine individuals, including seven women linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB), have had their remand extended on Friday (Oct 4).

The remand extension order for all individuals, aged between 18 and 55, was issued by Magistrate M. Mageshwary after a request was made by the police at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court here, according to Sinar Harian.

Seven women, including four wives of the Board of Directors of GISB, had their remand extended by one day while two men were remanded for two days after their seven-day remand, which began on Sept 28, ended.

All of them were represented by lawyers Boestamam Ahmad, Dorina Abdullah, and Najib Zakaria.

Boestamam said all the individuals involved were detained by the police around Rawang on Sept 27.

"Today (Friday), the court allowed a one-day remand extension for the seven women, while a two-day extension was granted for the two men for investigations under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007," he said.

All the suspects had earlier arrived at the court at 10.15am under police escort.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was previously reported as saying that the police would be applying for a remand extension for 24 senior members of GISB, including the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the expiration of their remand today.
