PETALING JAYA: The launch of the Belt and Road Economic and Trade Information Consultation Centre facilitates business matching between Malaysian and Chinese entrepreneurs.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said Chinese enterprises should consider expanding into Malaysia, citing the absence of language barriers and cultural differences as one of the main advantages.
He said that Chinese companies can train local employees, adding that 50,000 students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology are qualified for recruitment by Chinese companies.
"These institutions have an impressive 97% employment rate, with the remaining 3% venturing into entrepreneurship.
"This creates a mutually beneficial scenario where Chinese companies can hire suitable employees while graduates gain valuable job opportunities," he added.
He welcomes Chinese investors, adding that the centre would help guide them to the right partners and avoid pitfalls.
During his speech at Wisma MCA here on Saturday (Oct 5), he said businesses looking to develop overseas should consider registering for the centre.
The MCA PRC (People’s Republic of China) affairs and Belt Road Initiative Committee chairman, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, said that since their establishment, they have carried out 70 initiatives in the past 11 months.
He hopes the platform will benefit more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
“This centre will not only connect local businesses but also assist Chinese entrepreneurs in engaging with selected Malaysian entrepreneurs, creating opportunities for collaboration,” he said, adding that the service is free of charge.
MCA Deputy President Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, MCA PRC Affairs & BRI Committee Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Datuk Koh Chin Han and MCA PRC Affairs & BRI Committee Deputy Chairman Datuk Kang Meng Fuat were also present.
