PETALING JAYA: A two-storey furniture complex along the LDP highway here has been razed by fire.

The incident, which occurred late Friday (Oct 4) night, saw the building almost completely burnt down with roads along the LDP temporarily cordoned off as a safety measure.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Zone 2 (Petaling) chief Wan Syariman Wan Saleh said a distress call was received at 10.46pm with first responders arriving at the scene 10 minutes later.

The fire was under control by 11.30pm the same night.

The operation involved 56 personnel, including senior officials, from various nearby Fire and Rescue Department stations.

Police and Tenaga Nasional Berhad personnel were also on the scene, alongside auxiliary members of the Fire and Rescue Department.

“The fire razed the complex which has about 16 shop units altogether.

“It is almost completely burnt down,” he told reporters at the site, adding that there were no casualties found during the operation.

The scene of the incident was frantic, causing heavy traffic along the LDP until past midnight.

Due to the cordoned roads, users had to detour through the nearby neighbourhood.

A number of bystanders were also seen observing the situation from a distance.

Earlier, videos of the fire also made its rounds on social media.
