Mentally ill man who stabbed dad wants to buy knife before collapsing

KUALA PILAH: The mentally disabled man who allegedly killed his father in their home in Kampung Senaling here on Saturday (Oct 5) managed to buy a folding knife at a shop in Pekan Senaling, before suddenly collapsing on the side of the road.

Lee Kien Huei, 40, said he knew about the incident from the police and that the suspect came to his shop.

"When I saw him not far from my shop, I immediately called the police. The suspect then entered my shop to buy a knife, but I asked him to go to another shop and give the excuse that there was no knife.

"At that time I saw that he was 'different' and his mouth was also bleeding," he told Sinar Harian on Saturday (Oct 6).

He said, the suspect was then seen going to a nearby shop and buying a knife there, but suddenly collapsed on the side of the road.

He added that at the same time, the police arrived at the scene of the incident. After an examination, they found that he had died and was foaming at the mouth.

Meanwhile, Lee said he knew the suspect as the son of the victim who is a retired teacher, and also knew that the suspect was mentally ill.

"But he never disturbs anyone. He also comes to my shop once in a while and he looks like a normal person.

"I am also quite good with the deceased because he always comes to my shop and the news of what happened really surprised us," he said.

In addition, the student of the deceased's wife, who wants to be known as Aina, 24, described the deceased and his wife as good people, who even often helped her.

She said that she also knew that they had a child with mental illness.

Previously, the media reported that an elderly man, a retired teacher, died as a result of being stabbed by his son, a disability card holder, in their home.

The incident at 4.30pm is said to have happened when the victim tried to console his son, 32, who was believed to be having a hallucinatory episode, but the son reacted aggressively and stabbed him instead.
