Nine Molotov cocktail bottles hurled at the porch of a house

IPOH: Nine Molotov cocktail bottles were hurled at the porch of a house in Pantai Remis in Manjung, damaging a car and a motorcycle parked in its compound.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the incident occurred on Saturday at about 3.08am at a house in Taman Bintang.

He said a police report was lodged by the 25-year-old house owner, a quarry construction site supervisor on the same day at about 9.36am.

“Our investigations revealed that three men in a car wearing masks threw nine Molotov cocktail bottles towards the house, causing a fire in front of the house.

“The complainant’s father realised the incident, came out of the house and started to scream as the suspects ran away,” he said.

ACP Hasbullah said the complainant’s father put out the fire.

“Further checks found five papers written in Chinese outside the gate warning the complainant to pay his debts,” he added.

ACP Hasbullah said the complainant denied borrowing money from illegal money lenders or having any enemies.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code.

“Those with information on the incident can contact the investigation officer, Inspector Amir Hafiz Mohd Rosli at 011-24057360 or the control centre at 05-6886222 to assist in the investigations,” he added.
