KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Fattah Amin has rubbished the cheating claim made by his ex-wife, actress Nur Fazura, following divorce proceedings yesterday.
According to mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Fattah said the accusation caught him by surprise as it had never been brought up throughout their divorce process.
“That accusation is false. There’s no cheating issue.
“If she wants to continue defaming, she can bear the sins,” the 34-year-old said.
Fattah also refuted the claim that he had failed to provide financial support for Fazura, 41, and their four-year-old daughter Fatima.
“I have proof of where my money went. I gave it to my family. Maybe she feels like it wasn’t enough for her,” he said.
Fattah claimed Fazura’s accusations were intended to tarnish his reputation, adding that their divorce was solely due to irreconcilable differences.
“The accusations were made to humiliate and damage my good name. We had promised to protect each other’s dignity before (I pronounced) the talak (divorce proclamation),” he said.
Meanwhile, Fattah’s lawyer Zulkifli Che Yong said the court could issue a jail notice to Fazura for violating the agreed-upon terms.
“One of the agreed-upon terms is that both parties have to protect each other’s dignity and abstain from defaming one another.
“If there’s a violation, Fattah can file for contempt proceedings,” he said.
Fattah and Fazura were divorced at the Petaling Syariah Lower Court in Subang Bestari, Shah Alam, yesterday.
Following the proceedings, Fazura claimed her decision to divorce Fattah came from her husband’s inability to provide financial support, his infidelity, as well as irreconcilable differences.
Fazura filed for divorce from Fattah on Sept 13.
The former couple were married on Nov 27, 2017.
