Mamak restaurant in hot water after viral video of worker cleaning pots with broom


PETALING JAYA: The Lipis District Council is investigating a mamak restaurant after a viral video showing a man, believed to be an employee of a local eatery, using a broom to clean pots last Saturday (Oct 5).

The council chairman Datuk Mohd Hafizi Ibrahim stated that action would be taken if the investigation confirms misconduct occurred at the involved premises, according to Sinar Harian.

It was also reported that the restaurant has been ordered to close for two weeks by the Health Ministry after conducting a suprise inspection a day after the video went viral.

The video, which has provoked outrage and condemnation on social media, was only two seconds long and was shared on Facebook.

The clip shows the man washing pots behind a premises suspected to be located in the town of Lipis, prompting calls for a thorough investigation by authorities to ensure consumer health and safety.

As of 11am, the clip had nearly reached 100,000 views, with 613 likes and 675 comments, demonstrating the significant attention and concern it has garnered from the online community.
