SHAH ALAM: Ten suspects, including a woman, have been arrested following a gang robbery at a house in Pandamaran, Klang, which saw three victims being tied up and resulting in more than RM600,000 in losses.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects were detained in Mantin, Negri Sembilan, as well as the Klang Valley in an operation held from Oct 3 until yesterday, adding that several stolen items were seized.

“The suspects, aged between 23 and 46, were believed to be responsible for the gang robbery,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.

He added that the gang was led by a man with a criminal record linked to three offences.

“We believe they have been active for about a year.

“In the gang robbery at a house belonging to a businessman in Pandamaran, 12 masked individuals armed with machetes broke into the house at about 6am on Oct 3.

“CCTV footage showed the suspects arriving in two vehicles before breaking into the house,” said Comm Hussein.

The suspects then tied up three residents of the house before injuring one of them.

“Valuables and jewellery worth RM600,000 were stolen,” he added.

Comm Hussein said the robbery gang was active in Selangor and Negri Sembilan, as well as other states.

“We believe they had a network of different groups who conducted research and surveillance on a housing area before carrying out robberies.

“They usually strike in the wee hours,” he said.

“We believe they were responsible for six robbery cases in South Klang and seven in Negri Sembilan.

“We believe there are several individuals, who are part of the gang, still at large and we are in the midst of tracking them down.

“All suspects have been remanded for seven days,” he added.

Separately, a senior officer and three police personnel have been transferred following a party held at the Criminal Investigation Department of a district police headquarters.

Comm Hussein said checks revealed that a corporal was with four members of the public – three women and a man – in a room in the Sept 28 incident.

“All the individuals were listening to loud music, as well as eating at the time.

“It is an offence to bring members of the public into office premises without official reasons.

“We took stern action by transferring the police personnel immediately,” he said.
