THE spookiest time of the year is just around the corner, and Sunway Lost World Of Tambun is back with the third edition of its highly anticipated Halloween event, Screamfest 3: The School of Horror.
From Oct 4 to 31, every Friday to Sunday from 7:15pm to 11pm, the theme park will morph into a spine-chilling realm of haunted classrooms, sinister hallways, and eerie specters, all inspired by Malaysia's most haunting schoolyard legends.
School of Horror features eight haunted attractions, fusing local lore and familiar school settings, creating an unforgettable, hair-raising experience.
From the apparition of the 'pontianak' to the ghoulish presence of the 'toyol,' these supernatural entities promise a good scare, immersing guests in a spine-tingling experience rooted in Malaysian culture.
At the heart of the horror lies Block Histeria, an immersive haunted school block consisting of familiar yet freaky spaces, from classrooms and a library, to science labs, storerooms, and a creepy canteen among the few.
Adding to the terror is the transformation of Kepura Cave into the dreaded Gua Demerit, where gutsy guests must complete a series of tasks to escape.
Visitors will receive a report card before they enter and have to pass all the "exams". Only those who succeed in completing the challenges can exit Gua Demerit—or risk being trapped in detention for eternity.
Guests will also encounter Denai Misteri. Legend has it, a group of famous trackers once ventured here in search of a missing girl, but they returned, haunted by fear.
Now, guests are invited to experience the journey themselves, attempting to locate the missing girl while facing the dark beings that lurk within Denai Misteri.
Pushing the boundaries
This year’s event aims to be the most immersive and terrifying yet, building upon the success of its predecessors while introducing a host of new horrors.
Sunway Theme Parks senior general manager Nurul Nuzairi says, the team has taken great care in designing every detail of Screamfest 3, with both local and international visitors in mind.
“By incorporating elements of Malaysia’s haunted school folklore, we’re offering something that’s not only frightening but also culturally significant. This will make the experience all the more terrifying and immersive for those familiar with the stories,” he adds.
Spooky fun for all
While Screamfest 3 is a must-visit for thrill-seekers and horror enthusiasts, it also offers a variety of activities that cater to different levels of spooks.
For those who prefer milder scares, there will be Halloween-themed games, spooky food stalls, and nightmarish photo opportunities without the intense fear factor.
Sunway Lost World Of Tambun ensures the event remains family-friendly, offering designated areas where younger visitors can enjoy light-hearted Halloween fun in a more playful, less spooky environment.
