Dedication: Teacher treks four hours through heavy jungle to report to Sabah school


PETALING JAYA: Being a teacher is among the toughest jobs one can do from the occasional long hours, preparing lessons and caring for the children under their care both academically and mentally.

But one teacher in Sabah’s showed his grit and dedication after spending over four hours trekking through thick forests to report in his new role at SK Longkogungan in Penampang.

In an Instagram video by user “Kupikupifm Sabah” on Sunday (Oct 6), the teacher was seen navigating the mountainous terrain as one of the students guided him.

The trek, which took a total of four hours and five minutes, saw the pair encounter dangerous terrain such as ascending and descending steep mountain paths as well as wading through knee-deep rushing rivers.

They also crossed fear-inducing narrow swaying suspension bridges which linked different sections of the trail over even wider and more turbulent rivers

As the duo then took a commemorative photo together after they reached the school.
