Number of flood victims in Johor drops as sky clears


JOHOR BARU: Clearer skies in the states have resulted in a drop in the number of flood victims.

In a statement on Wednesday (Oct 9), the state disaster management committee said that as of 8am, there were 496 victims in three districts statewide.

Pontian remains the worst-hit district with 244 victims, followed by Kluang with 235 victims and Batu Pahat with 17 victims.

“There are currently six temporary relief centres (PPS) in operation, which houses all the victims," the committee said, adding that Sk Sri Amon in Pontian was the biggest PPS with 148 victims from 45 families.
