KUALA LUMPUR: Holiday-goers can get up to 50% off travel packages to local destinations as part of this year’s Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia (KCCM) 2024.

The carnival will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex from Oct 25-27 and would feature over 100 travel packages that include culturally rich and scenic destinations from across Malaysia.

These travel packages will feature discounts ranging from 15% to 50%.

Themed “Crafting Holiday”, this year’s carnival will let visitors plan their ideal local vacation while enjoying the local artistic, handicraft and cultural heritage activities the country offers.

The travel packages also cover nature-centric destinations, cultural experiences and adventure activities, according to Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

“We want those travelling locally to enjoy the hands-on experience of local culture, crafts and food while on holiday. Among the unique activities are heritage tours, water sports, scuba diving, bird watching, stargazing and other nature adventures.

“The event will also include handicraft exhibitions, the sale of such products, and cultural and culinary demonstrations of heritage food,” he said in his speech during the pre-launch of KCCM yesterday.

Khairul Firdaus added that over 100 tourism industry players across Malaysia, including travel agencies and state tourism boards, will have booths at KCCM 2024.

Another prominent feature of the carnival will be the “Pasar Saloma” market, which will see over 30 small and medium enterprises selling their traditional cultural products, from handicrafts to heritage food items, he said.

“This diversity of this year’s carnival is aimed at driving domestic tourism among our people while showcasing our lesser-known local crafts and heritage foods to the public,” he added.

Khairul Firdaus said local tourism had seen a significant increase as of the second quarter of this year, with over 64.8 million visitors recorded travelling domestically and over RM28.1bil generated in travel expenses.

“With this event, we hope to further boost domestic tourism to over 221 million recorded visitors and RM92.7bil revenue generated by the end of this year,” he added.
