Zahid's reminder shows unity among government leaders, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's reminder to Umno leaders not to "disturb" other component parties in the unity government has demonstrated the spirit of solidarity within the administration, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister, who also serves as the unity government spokesman, noted that this reflects a unified government leadership with a common goal to ensure political stability for national development.

"The ringgit strengthened compared to last year, investment and trade increased, and Malaysia achieved success after success.

"The Prime Minister was recognised as one of the 15 most influential Muslim leaders in the world. Shouldn't we feel proud?" he said at a press conference after attending the 2024 World Post Day celebration here on Wednesday (Oct 9).

He added that the understanding among the component parties of the unity government will enable more effective efforts to position Malaysia as a highly respected nation on the global stage.

On Tuesday (Oct 8), Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Umno president, mentioned that the remarks by Umno supreme council member Nur Jazlan Mohamed, suggesting Pakatan Harapan (PH) apologise to Umno for decades of political attacks, were a personal opinion.

Ahmad Zahid said that he had met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and other component party leaders after the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where they agreed to set aside differences and foster better cooperation to face any potential challenges, including by-elections and the General Election. – Bernama
