“The drugs include heroin (53.36kg), cannabis (19.86kg), ketamine (45.27kg), methamphetamine (446.21kg), MDMA (1.16kg) and ketum leaves (339.12kg).
“The goods to be disposed of include equipment used by syndicates to process the drugs,” he told a press conference at state police headquarters here on Thursday (Oct 10).
He said the disposal will be carried out by Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd at Bukit Pelanduk, Negri Sembilan.
Comm Kumar also noted that the amount of drugs this time around was significantly higher compared to last year.
“Last year, we disposed of 322.13kg of drugs and 1,562.60 litres of drugs in liquid form, estimated to be worth about RM5.43mil.
“The drugs then were from some 3,314 cases, for which the necessary court proceedings had also been completed,” he said.
On a related matter, Comm Kumar also noted that Johor police arrested 19,726 people between Jan 1 and Oct 9 this year for various drug offences.
“During the same period, we also seized some 5.48 tonnes of drugs estimated to be worth RM58.35mil,” he said, adding that some RM16mil of goods were also seized in connection with the cases.
He urged the public to continue being the eyes and ears of the police and to channel information on any illegal activities.
“We hope the public keeps assisting us in eradicating drug addiction,” he said, adding that the identity of informers will be kept secret.
