Johor Zoo to close every Tuesday from Nov for cleaning works

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Zoo will close every Tuesday starting next month, says Johor housing and local government committee chairman, Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

He explained that the closure, effective Nov 1, is to allow zoo staff to carry out cleaning tasks, including the maintenance of animal enclosures and to perform general weekly upkeep.

"Beginning Nov 1 this year, the Johor Zoo will be closed every Tuesday. The zoo’s operating hours will remain unchanged on other days. However, during school and public holidays, the zoo will open daily, including on Tuesdays," he announced via a Facebook statement.

The Johor Zoo reopened on Aug 31 after completing RM9.6mil worth of upgrading works over the past three years. Approximately 5,000 visitors flocked to the zoo on its reopening day, which coincided with National Day.

The zoo currently operates daily from 9am to 6pm, except on Fridays when it opens earlier at 8.30am and takes a break from 12.30pm to 2pm for Friday prayers.
