SCAMMERS are now targeting kind-hearted travellers at KL Sentral by borrowing cash before absconding with it, reported China Press.
A scam victim recounted an episode on Xiaohongshu where a man claiming to be a university student asked to borrow RM300 from him on Sept 28.
The student claimed that he was unfamiliar with paying using the ride-sharing app and needed cash to book a ride to his hometown in Tanjong Malim, Perak.
The victim withdrew the money and handed it to the man after considering that he was just a student and came from the same hometown as he did.
He took the student’s phone number before parting ways.
After a few days, the victim texted the student and asked for the RM300 back but received no reply.
It was then he realised that he had been scammed.
The victim warned others to be wary of strangers and direct those seeking help to staff members at train stations to prevent being scammed.
> Taiwanese actress Joe Chen is fed up at being bombarded with questions on when she is going to have kids, causing the usually soft-spoken actress, 45, to hit out, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The actress had started a question-and-answer session with fans on Instagram but was annoyed when many inundated her comment section with questions on when she plans to have children.
“Is it really important for women to have kids? If you like to have them, go ahead. If you do not, then don’t! Is that really hard?” she responded.
Joe noted that having children at her age comes with risks and urged fans to respect the choices of women on whether they choose to have kids.
Many Internet users speculated that she may have been tired of the question since getting hitched to her Malaysian husband Alan Chen two years ago.
The two finally decided to hold a wedding reception in Langkawi in September this year.
Joe was reported to have said that she wanted a wedding reception but had been procrastinating due to the sheer amount of effort required to organise one.
The two met on a dating TV programme before getting married in March 2022.
