Cops nab father, stepmother of abused boy in Bagan Serai


IPOH: Police have detained the father and stepmother of a six-year-old boy who was abused in Bagan Serai.

Kerian OCPD Supt Juna Yusoff said a police report was lodged at 4.09pm on Oct 10 regarding the case.

He said 47-year-old man and the 33-year-old woman were arrested at a house in Ladang Kalumpong in Bagan Serai on the same day at about 5.30pm.

“Police also seized several items believed to be used by the suspects to cause injury to the boy.

“Also seized were three bottles containing liquid believed to be ketum,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 12).

Supt Juna said the victim was brought to the Taiping hospital, and the doctor confirmed the victim sustained injuries to his face, chest, stomach, both hands, legs and thigh due to beatings.

“The victim is still admitted at the hospital, and is in a stable condition.

“The case is being investigated under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001, and Section 30 (3) of the Poison Act 1952,” he added.

Both the suspects have been remanded until Oct 14.
