DUNGUN: Neighbours expressed disbelief over an accident involving a local woman who crashed into two motorcycles, resulting in the deaths of three Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun campus students last Wednesday (Oct 9).
A neighbour, known only as Nora, described the suspect as a very good neighbour who never disturbed the community, contrary to claims by some netizens on social media.
"I can say that she and her family are very kind and have never bothered others. When I heard the news, I was very shocked and couldn't believe it happened.
"For decades living as neighbours, the family never caused any trouble, and she is a loving woman who never did anything harmful or inconvenient to the community," she told Sinar Harian on Saturday (Oct 12).
Nora added that it was understood the woman suffered from depression after losing a child ten years ago.
"She was indeed ill after losing her child but never disturbed or harmed others.
"The incident was very shocking because I knew she never harmed anyone.
"Previously, if she went out anywhere, she was accompanied by her husband and children.
"So I urge people not to speculate or make false claims about the incident since they do not know what really happened," she said.
Meanwhile, a neighbour, known only as Abu, said the suspect's family had not been seen since Friday (Oct 11).
"Since the case, it seems there have hardly been any people coming in and out of the house.
"I dare not comment too much, but I pray for them and the victims' families to have strength in facing this trial. I hope everyone receives justice and proper support," he said.
Efforts by Sinar Harian to interview the suspect's family were unsuccessful as their house in the village was locked.
Previously, media reported that the woman, who crashed into two motorcycles, resulting in the deaths of three UiTM Dungun campus students, was remanded for four days starting Thursday (Oct 10).
The housewife, who has three children and is believed to suffer from mental health issues, arrived at the Kuala Terengganu Court Complex at 9am on Thursday, seemingly bewildered.
Additionally, Terengganu Deputy Police Chief Datuk Wan Rukman Wan Hassan stated that in the incident at 7.35pm, the three UiTM Dungun campus students were killed, and another was seriously injured after the two motorcycles they were riding were hit by the suspect driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Jalan Pantai, in front of UiTM Dungun.
Wan Rukman said the three deceased victims were Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25, from Muar, Johor; Ku Adib Ku Azmi, 20, from Sungai Buloh, Selangor; and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, 20, from Ampang, Selangor.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Amar Danish Mohammad Ridhuan, 20, from Kuala Lumpur was injured in the waist and is being treated at Dungun Hospital.
