KJ: Being a radio DJ merely a pit stop before I join politics again

PETALING JAYA: Despite achieving success as a radio presenter, Khairy Jamaluddin still harbours the desire to restart his political career.

Fresh off winning the Popular Radio Presenter at the 36th Berita Harian Popular Stars Awards (ABPBH36), the Hot FM deejay, 48, said that working in the entertainment industry was merely a pit stop.

"This new world is just a pit stop for me, maybe when the time is right, I will return to my natural world (politics). But I don't know when that will be," the former federal minister told mStar.

Khairy said this during a press conference at the ABPBH36 grand finale at the Shah Alam City Council Auditorium (MBSA), Selangor, on Friday (Oct 11) night. The former health minister was the first politician to win an award at ABPBH, defeating four other candidates in his category, namely Sharifah Shahira, Tyzo, DJ Sonic, and Haiza.

Khairy teams up with Fara Fauzana, Johan, and AG as radio presenters in the Bekpes Hot segment every Monday morning.

Khairy said that although many have labelled him as "ruined" after becoming a deejay, the experience in the studio has been very valuable to him.

"There are many funny moments in the studio, and it's normal for many to say that I've been 'ruined' or corrupted, especially by Johan. But it will be a beautiful memory because if I return to the world of politics, this experience will be very precious," he said.

Meanwhile, Khairy explained that the message about the vastness of opportunities he conveyed during his speech on stage was general and not directed at anyone in particular.

"I just want to convey the message to the public to trust in Allah's plans. Like my experience, opportunities were closed when I was removed from the party and my original world. But I don't blame or target anyone, as I said, do your best, and Allah will take care of the rest. Alhamdulillah, Allah opened new opportunities for me," he explained.
