Man dies after motorcycle collides with road divider in Johor

KLUANG: A 20-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a road divider at KM58 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at 7.15pm on Saturday (Oct 12) when the victim was on his way to the Pagoh National Youth Skills Training Institute.

“The victim, a student at the institute, was riding with another man, aged 19, who was on a separate motorcycle.

"Upon reaching the location, the other motorcycle, which was in front of the victim, made an emergency stop to avoid a vehicle that had suddenly changed lanes.

“The victim, who was following behind, was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear tyre of the motorcycle ahead, causing him to be thrown into the road divider,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 12).

He added that the victim suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The other rider was unharmed,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
