Hong Kong tourist injured on Mount Kinabalu, carried down on stretcher


KOTA KINABALU: A tourist from Hong Kong had to be carried down Mount Kinabalu using a stretcher on Sunday morning (Oct 13).

The 30-year-old man had fallen and suffered injuries at KM6.3 on his way down the mountain.

Ranau Fire Station chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the victim’s mountain guide called for help.

“The call for help was made at 9.03am at the Panalaban Sick Bay,” he said in a statement.

He said the man was given first aid before he was placed on a stretcher and carried down the mountain.

Ridwan said the injury was not severe, but the victim could not walk because of it.
