Man charged with evading payment for massage service

KOTA KINABALU: A 21-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday for allegedly deceiving a woman by not paying for a body nerve massage service earlier this month.

The accused pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to a charge of cheating Priscilla Jenny Ho, the service provider, into believing he would pay for the treatment, which was valued at RM530.

However, he fled without making the payment.

The offence, framed under Section 417 of the Penal Code for cheating, was allegedly committed on Oct 6 at 11am at the Komiko 88 Reflexology and Therapy Centre.

If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison, a fine, or both.

The court set Oct 24 for mention and released the accused on bail of RM1,000 with two sureties.
