One killed in apartment blaze, two others rescued

PETALING JAYA: A 31-year-old woman was killed while two others were rescued following a fire at an apartment in Sunway Damansara here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a distress call was made at about 8.39am yesterday.

“Twenty-one firemen from three fire stations were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the team discovered that a switch box in a unit on the 14th floor (of a 15-floor apartment) had caught fire,” Ahmad Mukhlis said in a statement.

The fire was eventually put out and the woman’s body was discovered in a bathroom in the apartment.

“Two others – a 29-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman – were rescued,” Ahmad Mukhlis added.
