IPOH: A 51-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old step-granddaughter here.
Perak police chief Datuk Comm Azizi Mat Aris said the man was arrested after the victim’s 18-year-old aunt lodged a police report on Oct 13 at about 7.56pm.
He said the incident is believed to have occurred on May 25 this year inside a car parked in front of a fast food restaurant here.
“The suspect, a food outlet helper, has been remanded for seven days until Oct 20.
“The suspect has a prior criminal offence in 2004 for house break-in,” he told a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here on Monday (Oct 14)
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years with whipping.
