HK man rescued from Mt Kinabalu after fall

Group effort: Rescuers preparing the victim on a stretcher before carrying him down the mountain.

KOTA KINABALU: A 30-year-old man from Hong Kong had to be carried down from Mount Kinabalu on a stretcher after he fell and hurt his thigh at KM6.3 of the mountain.

His mountain guide had to call for help after the fall, said Ranau fire station chief Ridwan Mohd Taib.

“The call for help was made at 9.03am at the Panalaban Sick Bay yesterday,” he said in a statement.

He said the man was given preliminary medical attention before being placed on a stretcher to be carried down.

Ridwan said the injury was not too serious but the impact of the fall made it hard for the victim to continue walking. No other hazards or injuries were reported.
