KUALA KRAI: Pasar Besar Kuala Krai was engulfed in flames early on Monday (Oct 14) morning, resulting in the complete destruction of the upper section of the market.
Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station Chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa stated that the fire affected 80 per cent of the building's upper structure. Fortunately, no individuals were injured or trapped.
He noted that the fire department received an emergency call at 1.21am, after which five fire engines and 25 personnel were dispatched to the scene.
"Upon arrival, we found that most of the market, especially the upper part, had already been consumed by the fire," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.
He reported that the firefighters managed to control the blaze by 2.06am, and the fire was fully extinguished by around 3.42am.
"The operation concluded at 5.17am. The total loss and cause of the fire are still under investigation," he added.
