Flooding around Universiti Malaya recedes

KUALA LUMPUR: The flooding around the campus of Universiti Malaya since heavy thunderstorms earlier Tuesday (Oct 15) morning has receded, says the varsity.

Following this, all routes within the campus and the main entrance have been reopened, including gates that were submerged since 10 am, reported Sinar Harian.

UM confirmed that there were no injuries or casualties reported during the flooding caused by the heavy rains.

"All staff, students, and campus visitors are advised to take precautionary measures and avoid activities that could result in individuals or property being trapped in floodwaters.

"The university will monitor the situation from time to time to ensure the safety of the campus," UM said in a statement.

For any enquiries, members of the public are urged to contact UM Crisis Communication Officer Farawahida Ismail at 03-79677009 or via email at masturayusoff@um.edu.my.
