HONG Kong singer Eason Chan, whose daughter had teased him for fanboying over tennis legend Roger Federer, had the last laugh when he was gifted a racquet used by the Swiss star, China Press reported.

An avid tennis player himself, the 50-year-old had a dream-come-true moment when he was paired with Federer at the Shanghai Masters last week.

The usually composed Chan appeared nervous when sharing the court with the 43-year-old superstar.

He was even seen getting Federer to sign a copy of the latter’s biography as well as a racquet and a ball.

But he was stunned when Federer handed him the racquet he had used for the match.

“My daughter made fun of me, saying that she has never seen Daddy acting like a fan. Haha!” Chan said.

He returned Federer’s gesture by gifting him a copy of his music record and some concert merchandise.

During the event, Federer and Chan managed to beat Chinese professional tennis player Zhang Zhizhen and Olympic table tennis champion Fan Zhendong in a three-game match.

In June, Chan suffered a heatstroke and collapsed on a tennis court in Hong Kong, sustaining a broken cheekbone and a deep cut on his jaw. He was forced to postpone some of his concert dates.

However, he quickly returned to the tennis court to practise ahead of the game with his idol.

> Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao showcased the 13-carat diamond ring he had bought his wife at their delayed wedding reception recently, China Press also reported.

The 37-year-old, who got hitched to his longtime girlfriend Summer Lin, 51, last year, finally threw a banquet last Saturday.

Right before the ceremony, the couple gave a press interview, where the groom proudly showed off his wife’s huge sparkler.

He kissed the ring and said it was a token of his eternal love for her.

When asked why he had waited a year to hold the bash after registering their marriage, Hsiao attributed it to procrastination.

“We should have done it right after our marriage registration. Having waited a year, we felt lazy and wanted to run away from the problem.

“If we don’t do it now, we may not do it at all. I told Summer that we should take this opportunity to thank everyone,” he said.

The two had secretly dated for 16 years before tying the knot.

Despite much scepticism surrounding their union due to their big age gap, the couple appeared to be still very much in love with each other.
