A WOMAN, who had hired a convict to kill her daughter for “embarrassing” the family, ended up being murdered by the hitman who turned out to be the girl’s lover.
Malaysia Nanban reported that the tragedy in Uttar Pradesh, India, began when the teenager, who is not 18 yet, started dating a man named Akilesh.
At one point, Akilesh and the girl were said to have disappeared together, but she was eventually found after her parents made a police report. Akilesh was charged and jailed for kidnapping.
The teenager’s mother, identified as Alka Devi, was ashamed of her daughter’s behaviour, so she sent the girl to a relative’s house in a village.
Months later, Alka Devi seemed to have not got over her daughter embarrassing the family, so she met with a villager named Subbash Singh, who had just been released from prison.
Alka Devi offered him 50,000 rupees (RM2,600) to bump off her own daughter.
Subbash, 38, soon realised that the target was his girlfriend who had been showering him with gifts, and decided to kill Alka Devi instead. He arranged for a meeting with Alka Devi on the pretext of further discussing their deal and killed her then.
Alka Devi’s husband, who became worried when his wife failed to return home, lodged a police report.
The investigation, which uncovered the entire saga, led to Subbash confessing to his crime.
