No compromise for officers using violence, abuse of power against detainees, says Immigration DG


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Immigration Department will not compromise on any form of abuse of power and violence by any of its officers.

Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the department always complied with international standards such as the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules For The Treatment of Prisoners (The Nelson Mandela Rules) and the International Committee of The Red Cross (ICRC) - Healthcare in Detention in the management of its depot.
