Tahfiz student in Besut electrocuted during storm


BESUT: A student is believed to have been electrocuted in an incident at a tahfiz centre near Kampung Gong Penaga, Jabi here.

Besut OCPD Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad said that in the 10.30pm incident on Tuesday (Oct 15), Muhammad Fahim Rasyidi Shariful Hadi, 17, was found holding a light bulb.

"The victim, from Klang, Selangor, was said to have received an electric shock while holding the bulb on his way to wash his hands during heavy rain.

"Upon arriving at the scene, (police) found that other students had already placed the unconscious victim in a car," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

"The victim was taken to Hospital Besut, where he was pronounced dead," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Oct 16).

The victim was a student of Madrasah Tahfiz Al Quranil Hakim.

Supt Rozak said the victim's body has been sent to the hospital's Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.

He added that the case has been classified as a sudden death report.
