Tawau cops nab man who took a belt to 7yo son


KOTA KINABALU: A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Sabah's east coast Tawau district for allegedly beating his seven-year-old son, inflicting bodily injuries on the child.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said that the man was arrested on Tuesday (Oct 15) after an aunt of the victim lodged a police report.

She said she had found the boy severely hurt all over his body on Saturday (Oct 12).

The suspect was arrested at Mile 3, Jalan Apas at about 12.45pm on Tuesday, ACP Jasmin said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 16).

According to the police report, the child was allegedly struck with a belt.

"We have rescued the child and the belt suspected to have been used has also been seized," ACP Jasmin said.

The suspect has been remanded and is being investigated for causing grievous hurt.
