Melaka CM celebrates diversity in early Deepavali message

MELAKA: In an early Deepavali message, the Melaka Chief Minister says he appreciates the contributions of every community in developing and bringing prosperity to the state.

Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Jusoh also said his administration will never discriminate against any locals based on their skin colour or ethnicity and is committed to empowering all communities.

"Today, I assure the Indians in the state that the government will continue to empower them in educational excellence, social well-being and economic development," he said after presenting festive gifts to his Hindu staff and media practitioners in the state at his office in Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh here on Thurs (Oct 17).

Also present was Melaka youth, sports and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) committee chairman Datuk VP Shanmugam.

Ab Rauf said the contributions of all the communities towards the development of the state are recognised and remembered.

"Please don't let naysayers cause diversion among us and let's celebrate our diversity.

"The state government will continue to formulate impactful development projects and programmes to benefit all ethnic groups in this state," he said.

Ab Rauf also hopes those celebrating the Festival of Light will travel safely to their destinations and make the celebration in the state merrier.
