Boy, 6, in ICU after falling from sixth floor of Perak Tengah flats


IPOH: A six-year-old boy is in the intensive care unit after a fall from the sixth floor of the Seri Iskandar flats in Perak Tengah district.

OCPD Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the victim is in stable condition at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun's Paediatric Unit ICU.

He said the fall occurred at 10.50pm on Wednesday (Oct 16).

"Investigations found that the victim was with his sisters, aged one and 12, while their mother was at work.

"The victim climbed the balcony railing before falling," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 18).

"The child was sent to Hospital Changkat Melintang in an ambulance at 11.20pm on the day of the incident," he added.

Supt Hafezul Helmi said anyone with information should contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Aminuddin Haiqal Mohamed Masnani at 019-675 1267.

"The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001," he added.

The section covers suspected abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exposure of a child in a manner likely to cause physical or emotional injury.
