Cops on alert after Indian airline bomb threats

KUALA LUMPUR: Security at the Indian High Commission here is being closely monitored following bomb threats to an Indian airline several days ago, police revealed.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said while there were no threats against the foreign mission, police were on alert.

“We will continue to monitor the situation at the High Commission. Safety and security is the priority,” he said yesterday.

It was reported that at least five Indian flights received bomb threats on Oct 15, with two flights making emergency landings.

Air India received an email about a bomb threat on Flight AXB684 bound for Singapore from the southern Indian city Madurai that day, prompting two F-15 fighter jets from the Singapore Air Force escorting the plane, which landed at Changi Airport at 10.04pm, more than an hour after its 8.50pm scheduled arrival.

An Ayodhya-bound Air India Express flight also received a bomb threat, reported The Times of India, with the flight eventually making an emergency landing.

Another Air India plane flying from New Delhi to Chicago also made an emergency landing in Canada.
