Trio arrested over gun-flashing incident at Puchong food court


SERDANG: Two men and a woman were detained in connection with a viral incident of a man flashing an object believed to be a pistol at a food court in Puchong.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm A.A. Anbalagan said police detected a report on the incident on Thursday (Oct 17).

"The incident occurred at about 10pm on Oct 13 at a food court in Puchong.

"The incident was caused by a misunderstanding between two men," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 18).

The complainant lodged a police report, as he feared the safety of his family and himself, he added.

"An investigation led to the arrests of the three suspects.

"One of the suspects had a prior criminal record.

"We also seized an object resembling a pistol with a magazine and two bullets (white pallets)," he said.

He reminded the public not to speculate on the incident.

"We also urged those with information to contact Serdang police at 03-80742222 to assist with the investigation," he said.

It was reported that a man allegedly flashed an object believed to be a pistol, after being told off for smoking at a food court.

A video of the incident has since gone viral.

The 26-second video showed two men arguing at a food court in Puchong while a woman attempted to cool down the situation.

The video also captured the woman pulling one of the men, who was clad in a white round neck T-shirt.

Another video showed a different angle of the same man lifting his arms up to show an object resembling a pistol.

A message along with the video was circulated on Telegram, claiming the incident occurred several days ago and the man got into an argument with the food court manager after he was told not to smoke at the premises.'

The message also claimed that the man showed his pistol and pointed it at the manager's stomach.
